Matthew J. Harmon began his career as a systems administrator and has been working on ANSI, ISO and ITU-T standards development in the IT Security, AutoID and Fraud Countermeasures committees as Chair, Editor and Subject Matter Expert since the late 90’s. Since then he has helped organizations as a security consultant leading evidence based IT risk auditing and forensic investigations to all major industries.
Matthew has a deep passion for teaching. He regularly gives SANS lessons on DoD 8570 approved courses in offensive and defensive computer security, in addition to his own track of presentations on IT Risk, Cyber War, Exploits and Incident Response for groups such as the Cyber Securit Summit and Twin Cities based schools, universities and nonprofit organizations. Matthew is an active community organizer and started (ISC)2 Twin Cities followed by Security B-Sides MSP 2014 and now 2015.
In his free time, Matthew enjoys gardening, analyzing malware, building experimental systems, serving on advisory boards such as the Cyber Security Summit, and helping build the Minneapolis CERT.
