Target’s Tim Crothers and Catharine Trebnick of Dougherty & Company to lead the Ninth Annual Cyber Security Summit Oct. 28-30 in Minneapolis

Minneapolis, Minn.– June 4, 2019–Tim Crothers and Catharine Trebnick will co-chair the Ninth annual Cyber Security Summit, “Pushing the Cyber Security Envelope,” which takes place Oct. 28-30, 2019, at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, Minn.  Tim Crothers, vice president of security solutions for Target Corp., brings expertise in cyber-threat intelligence and computer forensics to co-chair this year’s summit.  Catharine Trebnick, vice president and senior research analyst for data and communications infrastructure for Dougherty & Company, LLC. in Minneapolis, is a frequent guest on CNBC and brings her expertise in emerging technologies and communication networking to co-chair the ninth annual event.

As sophisticated hacker attacks continuously threaten American businesses and governments, and as cyber security hygiene concerns loom over the upcoming elections, the Cyber Security Summit seeks to build a consortium of leaders to improve the state of cyber security.

According to Crothers, “Minnesota is home to many Fortune 500 multinational companies.  Forming an operational and innovative cyber ecosystem in Minnesota is good for not just the companies based here, but the larger cyber defense of the country, as well.”  Trebnick added, “The best tool available for combating cyber threats is information sharing. In the event of a breach, the investigation will proceed more quickly if there are established relationships with the appropriate government and industry resources.”

Eileen Manning, head of The Events Group, Incorporated, based in Minneapolis, is the co-founder and producer of the summit. “Threats to U.S. businesses are threats to the United States – the private sector is responsible for 85 percent of the nation’s critical infrastructure,” she says. “It’s not adequate for a company to purchase cyber defense tools once and think they have protected their assets.  The threat environment is constantly changing, but there are resources available. In order for us to stay ahead of the threat, it is critical for industry, government and academia to collaborate. Good security is good business.”  This year’s summit theme is Pushing the cyber security envelopeto stay ahead of increasing cybersecurity threats.
